How to choose the right Korean sunscreen

Choosing the right sunscreen for your skin

A good sunscreen should protect your skin every day while feeling comfortable enough to use consistently. Korean sunscreens are popular because they often combine high sun protection with lightweight textures, hydration and elegant finishes that work well under makeup.

In this category, you can find Korean SPF50+ PA++++ sunscreens, sun creams, sun serums, sun sticks, tone-up sunscreens, hydrating sunscreens and more matte options for different skin types and daily routines.

  • Dry or dehydrated skin: Choose hydrating sunscreens with ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, panthenol, rice, probiotics, ceramides or soothing extracts.
  • Oily or combination skin: Look for lightweight sun serums, gel creams, matte sunscreens or sun sticks that feel fresh and less heavy.
  • Sensitive or redness-prone skin: Choose gentle formulas with soothing ingredients such as Centella, heartleaf, panthenol or mineral/hybrid filters if your skin prefers them.
  • Dull or uneven-looking skin: Tone-up sunscreens or glow-focused formulas can help the skin look brighter and more even during the day.
  • Makeup users: Lightweight sunscreens that absorb well can sit better under cushion foundation, BB cream or makeup.
  • Outdoor use: Reapply regularly, especially if you sweat, swim or stay outdoors for many hours.

How to use Korean sunscreens

Sunscreen is one of the most important steps in a skincare routine. It should be used every morning, even when the weather is cloudy, especially if you use retinol, retinal, exfoliating acids, vitamin C or brightening products.

  1. Apply as the last skincare step: Use sunscreen after moisturizer and before makeup.
  2. Use enough product: Apply a generous amount to cover the face and neck evenly.
  3. Apply before sun exposure: Give the sunscreen time to settle before going outside.
  4. Reapply during the day: Reapply every 2–3 hours when outdoors, sweating or after wiping the face.
  5. Do not rely only on makeup SPF: Makeup with SPF is helpful, but it usually does not replace a proper sunscreen layer.

Sun cream, sun serum or sun stick?

Different sunscreen textures work better for different routines. The best sunscreen is the one you enjoy using every day.

  • Sun cream: Best for daily use when you want comfort, hydration and reliable coverage.
  • Sun serum: Best for lightweight hydration and a fresh, skincare-like finish.
  • Sun stick: Best for convenient reapplication during the day, especially over makeup or on the go.
  • Tone-up sunscreen: Best for a brighter, more even-looking finish without heavy makeup.
  • Matte sunscreen: Best for oily or combination skin that becomes shiny during the day.
  • Hydrating sunscreen: Best for dry or dehydrated skin that needs comfort and moisture.

Sunscreen and active skincare

If you use active ingredients such as retinol, retinal, exfoliating acids, vitamin C, tranexamic acid or other brightening products, sunscreen becomes even more important. These routines often focus on smoother, brighter or more even-looking skin, and daily SPF helps protect that progress.

For best results, use sunscreen every morning and reapply when needed. A consistent SPF habit is one of the most important steps for healthier-looking skin over time.
